welcome

Your home away from home for a beautiful & healing postpartum recovery.

Welcome to The Postpartum Sanctuary Retreat- a place designed with new mothers in mind. The Postpartum Sanctuary Retreat was designed as a space for mothers to heal following birth. Our goal is to treat mothers to an experience that will help them as they transition into the parenting journey. We hope to make that transition as smooth as possible.

Why stay at a postpartum retreat? A postpartum retreat can offer a range of benefits for new parents and staying at one can be a truly rejuvenating experience. They are common in many parts of Asia, namely Korea, where there are many postpartum care facilities, “Joriwon”, across the country as the cultural norm. Across the world, the cultural norm is for new mothers to be nourished and cared for with a heavy focus on the sacred first forty days postpartum.

"The women hosting this retreat are so welcoming, peaceful, and caring. The suite was private and comfortable - it felt like home! Anything I could need was readily available and thoughtfully provided. They bound my belly, educating me about the practice’s history and purpose, and provided me fresh berries, spring water, and delicious soups and breads. I was able to experience a sacred massage ritual, helping my spirit reconnect with my body after the journey of childbirth, while Khadijah cared for my baby girl. They were mindful of my spiritual practices, they doted on my baby and myself, and I left feeling like a new woman in the very best of ways."

The pregnancy.
The birth.

What about the postpartum?

A lot of emphasis is placed on the pregnancy and the birth. What many people fail to realize is that the hardest part of the journey begins once a baby is born, thus marking the beginning of what is often referred to as the fourth trimester- which is the immediate postpartum period or the first 12 weeks after birth.

At the postpartum retreat, we believe postpartum is forever, but our care is geared towards mothers in the first year postpartum.

So whether you are 3 days, 6 weeks, or 12 months postpartum, our doors are open to you. We want to show you what a healing postpartum can look like even if it’s months down the line and you, the mother, just need to be mothered.

We want better for mothers and babies…

We respect the sacred postpartum period and all it entails. We recognize the dire need of postpartum healing and care for mothers and would like to be a part of what improves the statistics that show how mothers in this country are not well cared for. Perinatal mood disorders including postpartum depression are on the rise as a result of the lack of care mothers receive in the postpartum period. We aim to change the narrative so that postpartum can be enjoyable and healing.

Our team of amazing postpartum care specialists have a wealth of knowledge and experience caring for mothers, babies, and families. At our retreat our guests will feel the love from the moment they step in.

Benefits of staying at a postpartum retreat

Rest & Recovery

The postpartum period can be physically and emotionally exhausting. The Postpartum Sanctuary Retreat is designed to provide a peaceful environment where you can rest, recuperate, and focus on your well-being without the usual daily pressures.

Expert Support

We offer access to professionals like lactation specialists, postpartum doulas, therapists, and wellness coaches who can provide valuable guidance and support tailored to your needs.

Bonding Time

Our retreat encourages plenty of opportunity for quality time with your baby in a supportive setting, whilst also being available to give you the break you need to rest. This can strengthen the bond between you and your little one while easing the transition into parenthood.

Mental and Spiritual Awareness

The retreat environment often encourages reflection and personal growth, helping you navigate the emotional and psychological shifts that come with becoming a parent whilst allowing yourself to be cared for and to live in the moment.

Nutritional Wellness

We aim to make sure our moms heal gracefully, thus offering a range of nutrient-dense meals, snacks, and teas that aid in recovery. Having access to nutritious meals without having to prepare it allows you to focus solely on your recovery and your baby, whilst feeling an increased sense of healthy well-being.

Community Connection

Connecting with other new parents who are going through similar experiences can be incredibly reassuring. Sharing stories, advice, and support can make you feel less isolated and more understood.

At the postpartum sanctuary retreat we aim to heal the whole mother. We believe that by healing the mother, we heal the community. "It takes a village to raise a child, but a community of love and support to raise a mother."
